Preface One

Wang Luying, a young local sculpture artist in Xiamen, came in with his first draft the day before yesterday, and asked me to write a preface. To be honest, I am an outsider for art, especially sculpture, without the right to speak. But when I read the collection of his works, I think I should say a few words.

Wang Luying is my friendship between generations, although we know each other not long time, but his pursuit of artistic creation that drive social integration, I am very appreciated. He was born in Xiamen in 1980 and graduated from Fujian Academy of Arts and Crafts in Fuzhou University in 2001. After leaving school only two years later, he began to create works. Ten years to participate in a variety of provinces and cities exhibitions.

I was invited to visit his studio, which is based on the local reaction, and reflect the harmony of Xiamen Haicang cultural vicissitudes of life works have left me a good impression. I prefer his Chinese characters sculpture, the art of traditional Chinese characters calligraphy has always been only can be appreciated on the plane of paper, and Chinese characters sculpture let Chinese characters stand up vividly, this is the reform and innovation of culture and art, or can become a "cultural creativity".

The achievement of a young sculpture artist Wang Luying, is first to get a good art education acquired during the study of Arts and Crafts College, of course, this is also inseparable from his practice after graduation and new exploration and willing to take advice. A few years ago, he studied with Singapore sculptor Cai Wenjia, benefited a lot, is really a strict teacher produce outstanding student.

As the collection of Wang Luying's works is about to be published, I wish he will continue to move towards the palace of sculpture.
